"Marcelo is an Italian Brazilian (Jus Sanguinis) born in Formiga, a charming little town in the countryside of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. During the early days of his career, Marcelo was able to help transform the way students in his undergrad school organize themselves. Founding an association to help minorities within his school. He has always been passionate about numbers and how those could help us understand the reality we live in. Starting as an Engineer, Marcelo walked his path to understand better human behavior, getting his master’s in Applied Economics from the University of San Francisco, California. Since he moved to California, he saw a discrepancy in economic welfare between People Of Color, including Latinx and Brazilians, and everyone else. He then decided to use the skills and abilities acquired through life to help his community, becoming a Data Manager at AGUILAS: El Ambiente, helping to better understand the world and the community we live in by bringing data insights to the table. In his personal life, he has always been passionate about collective sports, being a major goalkeeper in soccer and a highly competitive handball player. Also, traveling and mountaineering are among his hobbies, visiting over 30 countries and hiking up to 14000ft, the Toubkal Massif in Morocco, North Africa."
